Ruins of the monastery and church, Himmelpfort

The monastery, Himmelpfort, were founded in the 13th century, and was home for monks of the Cistercian order. Unfortunately the monastery did not manage to become as successful as hoped, and throughout the centuries, it was traded numerous times. In 1663 the Eastern part, the crossing and the choir were preserved and turned into a more modern form, in which a Protestant parish church was built, and the western part of the monastery, the nave (build early 1300), has been preserved as a ruin.
